We invite you to a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the techniques of rust printing, using discarded rusted items to create stunning, one-of-a-kind patterns on cotton and silk. What You’ll Learn: Techniques for preparing and treating your fabric, and the different ways to prepare both protein fibers (silk) and cellulose fibers (cotton, bamboo silk). How to source, repurpose and prepare discarded rust. Experimenting with patterns, textures, and composition. Caring for and preserving your rust-printed textiles. Making the most of the time whilst your rust prints develop, you'll have the opportunity to get creative with our own hand made rust pigment and inks. Who Is This For? This workshop is perfect for artists, fashion and textile enthusiasts, and sustainability-conscious creatives looking to explore an eco-friendly printing technique. No prior experience is needed. Materials Provided: All fabric, rusted objects, and necessary tools will be supplied. Just bring your creativity and a willingness to experiment. Aprons will be provided but please wear suitable clothing that you don't mind getting messy. Important Information: Please note our studio is located on the second floor of a Grade I listed building. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, there is no lift access, therefore the space is not accessibility friendly. Please take this into consideration when booking.
